The Amityville House Of Horror For Sale. In November 1974 Ronald DeFeo, Jr. shot six members of his family dead as they slept in their beds. Both DeFeo’s parents, two sisters and two brothers were killed using a .35 caliber rifle, all the victims were found lying on their stomachs in bed and not one of them appeared to have been woken by the gunfire as DeFeo walked from room to room killing his relatives. DeFeo was found guilty of all six murders and is incarcerated at the Green Haven Correctional Facility in New York.

In December 1975 George and Kathy Lutz moved into 112 Ocean Avenue along with their three children. The Lutzes spent a total of 28 days at the house before fleeing the property claiming they had been terrorised by paranormal phenomena and forced out. The Lutzes experiences were used as a basis for Jay Anson’s novel The Amityville Horror, which was published in 1977 and made into a film in 1979. Charles Djou’s Victory Opens New Door

Republican Charles Djou has breached the Democrats bastion by winning the special election in Hawaii’s First Congressional District – the Honolulu district where President Obama grew up. Djou became only the third Republican to win from Hawaii. Charles Djou’s victory in the heavily Democratic district is seen as a welcome political reversal for the GOP. In 2008, Obama won from here securing 70 percent of the vote, and no Republican had come from Hawaii in the last 20 years.

The victory also snapped a winning streak for Democrats, who had emerged victorious in seven consecutive special elections for Congress. The Democrats havd won two races in upstate New York and one in Pennsylvania. Source

American Idol raises almost 45 million

Sir Elton John, Alicia Keys and Carrie Underwood were among the stars who performed in Wednesday’s live special event organized by the producers of top-rated singing contest “American Idol.”

Two previous editions of “Idol Gives Back” in 2007 and 2008 raised a total of around $140 million from audience and corporate donations.

Some 18.3 million Americans watched Wednesday’s show on Fox television, which was scaled down partly because of the U.S. economic recession, and expectations were lower. The $45 million is expected to rise when proceeds from iTunes sales are added, Fox said.

British actress Sienna Miller’s life has been made intolerable because of a “campaign of harassment” by photographers, her lawyer told London’s High Court on Thursday.

Miller, 26, star of movies such as “Alfie” and “Layer Cake,” is taking legal action against photographic agency Big Pictures (UK) Limited and its founder, Darryn Lyons, claiming they are guilty of harassment and invasion of privacy.

At a preliminary hearing, her lawyer David Sherborne said the actress had been caused “substantial alarm, fear and enormous distress” by their conduct, the Press Association reported. The agency and Lyons are contesting the claims.

Miller’s private life and particularly her romantic liaisons have been a staple fodder for the tabloid press, with barely a day going by without her picture appearing in newspaper show business gossip columns.

Sherborne said the actress had endured “a campaign of harassment” since the end of June which had continued “despite requests to desist.” He told the court the “relentless pursuit” had reached such a level that it violated her human rights. Zara Phillips injured in cross-country fall

PAU, France (AFP) – Zara Phillips, the granddaughter of Queen Elizabeth II, fell from her horse and injured her shoulder at an international event here on Saturday, the organisers said.

The 27-year-old Phillips, the eventing world champion in 2006, fell from her mount Tsunami II as it approached a fence in the cross-country portion of the competition.

The 10-year-old horse suffered a fractured vertebra and could be put down.

Linda Hogan: Postjail Nick’s a “Changed Person” Los Angeles (E! Online) – According to his mom, Nick Hogan went into jail a boy and came out a man. A man who still wants to be a kid, that is.

Mr. Blackwell, the acerbic designer whose annual worst-dressed list skewered the fashion felonies of celebrities from Zsa Zsa Gabor to Britney Spears, has died. He was 86. He died Sunday of complications from an intestinal infection, publicist Harlan Boll said.

Mr. Blackwell, whose first name was Richard, was a little-known dress designer when he issued his first tongue-in-cheek criticism of Hollywood fashion disasters for 1960 — long before Joan Rivers and others turned such ridicule into a daily affair.

Year after year, he would take Hollywood’s reigning stars and other celebrities to task for failing to dress in what he thought was the way they should.

Ryan O’Neal and his son, Redmond, were charged Wednesday with possession of methamphetamine. Both face felony drug possession charges, deputy district attorney James Garrison said. Redmond O’Neal, 23, also faces misdemeanor charges for possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of pepper spray.

He and his 67-year-old actor father are scheduled to be arraigned Nov. 13.

The father and son were arrested Sept. 17 after deputies searched their Malibu home, part of Redmond’s probation. Police said drugs were found on Redmond and in Ryan O’Neal’s living area.

Ryan O’Neal’s attorney said the drugs did not belong to his client.

“It’s unfortunate because Ryan O’Neal didn’t possess methamphetamine, doesn’t use methamphetamine and it wasn’t his methamphetamine,” attorney Mark Werksman said. “He never should have been prosecuted for this. Alexei Cherepanov died

New York Rangers prospect Alexei Cherepanov died during a game in his native Russia on Monday night. He was 19.

The Rangers did not reveal the circumstances of Cherepanov’s death when contacted by PA SportsTicker.

The New York Post reported that Cherepanov suffered a heart attack and collapsed on the bench during Avangard Omsk’s game against Vityav Chekhov.

TSN of Canada reported that medical officials attempted to get Cherepanov’s heart beating again. According to the web site, there was no ambulance present at the arena. The report stated that it took between “15 and 20 minutes” to transport Cherepanov from the arena to the hospital.

The Rangers observed a moment of silence in his honor prior to Monday’s game against the New Jersey Devils.

New York general manager Glen Sather addressed the tragedy in a statement released by the team.

“We are extremely saddened by the tragic passing of Alexei,” Sather said. “On behalf of the New York Rangers organization, I would like to extend our deepest sympathies to his family. Alexei was an intelligent, energetic young man with tremendous talent and an extremely bright future.”
